Rule applied: when a date falls on a Saturday, Sunday or federal holiday, the IRS deadline moves to the next business day. Emancipation Day in Washington, April 16, counts too. The Florida annual report does not move. Florida sales tax is due on the 1st of each month and accepted without penalty through the 20th; the table shows that last day, also moved to the next business day.
What clients ask about deadlines.
What happens if I miss the S corporation or partnership deadline?
The IRS charges a penalty per month late and per owner, even if the company made no profit. If there is still time, an extension request on Form 7004 avoids it. If the deadline has passed, file as soon as possible to limit the amount.
Does an extension postpone the tax payment?
No. An extension postpones the filing, not the payment. The estimated tax must be paid by the original date, or the IRS charges interest and penalties on the difference.
I live in Brazil and own a US LLC. Which deadlines apply to me?
The company's, such as Form 1120 with Form 5472 for a single-member LLC owned by a foreigner, and Form 1040-NR if you have personal US income. The Florida annual report applies to every company registered in the state, wherever the owner lives.
Why did the date change from last year?
Because the day fell on a weekend or holiday. The IRS moves the deadline to the next business day, and this calendar applies the rule automatically every year.
